Laughton Greenwood on ITV Meridian News

By Laughton Greenwood

The planting of black poplars in support of Kew and Wakehurst’s conservation efforts to repopulate and save this endangered British tree species was the focus of February’s monthly volunteering session and it caught the interest of local ITV Meridian journalist, Malcolm Shaw.

Our regular and new volunteers were joined by Malcolm and his crew to help plant 10 black poplar saplings. The location of each sapling is carefully recorded so that we can care for and monitor its growth.

A huge thank you to our volunteers who came on Sunday. Our next volunteering session will be on Sunday 3rd March, 10am-lunchtime when we shall be planting willd cherry trees.
